The Master's Degree in Health Sciences at FCM-MG
The Stricto Sensu Graduation Program in Health Sciences at the Faculdade Ciências Médicas de Minas Gerais is expanding its master’s degree program in Belo Horizonte, offering a curriculum aligned with the activities of health professionals in the job market. Initially organized into three main areas – “Sciences Applied to Cancer,” “Sciences Applied to Cardiovascular Diseases,” and “Translational Medicine” –in 2025, the program included a new line of research: “Multidisciplinary Innovation in Health,” whose objective is to explore and promote innovative solutions and technologies in Medicine I, through multidisciplinary integration.
Recognized for its interdisciplinary approach, the program stands out for its faculty composed of highly qualified researchers. In addition, it has an excellent physical and technological infrastructure equipped with high-level resources, providing ideal conditions for developing projects and stimulating scientific collaboration. This structure is strengthened by the support of several units of the institution itself, such as the Minas Gerais Medical Sciences University Hospital (HUCM-MG), the Minas Gerais Medical Sciences Outpatient Clinic (ACM-MG), the Minas Gerais Medical Sciences Oncology Institute (IONCM-MG), the Minas Gerais Medical Sciences Eye Institute (IOCM-MG), the Realistic Simulation and Skills Laboratory (LabSim) and the Cardiorespiratory Assessment and Intervention Laboratory.
The program’s solidity is also reflected in its partnerships with national and international institutions, expanding opportunities for scientific collaboration and the insertion of researchers in the global scenario. As a result, research projects are developed in Belo Horizonte and several research centers in Brazil and abroad, allowing productive exchanges with renowned Brazilian and foreign researchers. This cooperation network contributes to the production of studies published in high-impact journals, attesting to the excellence and relevance of the program. Furthermore, the diversity of the faculty’s activities is evident in the plurality of research lines, projects, theses, and dissertations, reflecting the scope and innovation that characterize the graduate program.
Over its 10 years, the FCM-MG Master’s Program has already graduated more than 210 masters, qualified to work in teaching, research, and innovation activities. The program meets the demands of the health area, with an emphasis on the regional context, but it is also prepared to work at the national and international levels.
A Ordinance No. 526 published in the Official Gazette of June 18, 6, Section 2014, page 1recognizes the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program Stricto Sensu in Health Sciences of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Minas Gerais.

Self-assessment
The self-assessment of the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Health Sciences (PPGCS) at FCMMG is an essential tool for the continuous improvement of the program, allowing it to align its actions with the institutional mission and strengthen its social, scientific, and international insertion. Based on a cyclical method, the self-assessment follows a structured process that involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, using innovative techniques to diagnose strengths, weaknesses, and strategic opportunities. Based on this diagnosis, action plans are drawn up in line with the strategic planning of the Graduate Program and the institution, ensuring that the information gathered is transformed into practical actions and continuously monitored through performance indicators. This dynamic model ensures that the program remains updated, promoting academic qualification, innovation, and social impact, in addition to meeting CAPES guidelines and contemporary demands in the health area.
