Learn more about FCM-MG
The Faculdade Ciências Médicas de Minas Gerais (FCM-MG) is the oldest private medical school in Minas Gerais. It was founded in the 1950s by physician, professor, and humanist Dr. Lucas Monteiro Machado, who recognized the shortage of doctors in the state and the need to provide both technical and humanistic training to future professionals. With this vision in mind, he collaborated with fellow professors from the University of Minas Gerais (which would later become UFMG) to establish the new school, which received a license to operate from the Ministry of Education and Health on November 7, 1950.
FCM-MG is one of the largest health education ecosystems in the country, offering undergraduate courses in Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Dentistry and Psychology, as well as postgraduate courses: lato sensu, stricto sensu, advanced training and short-term.
