Prof. Ana Paula Drummond, faculty member of the Programa de Pós-Graduação Stricto Sensu em Ciências da Saúde (PPGCS) of the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas de Minas Gerais (FCMMG), obtained international funding from the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) for the project “Translating Cancer Prevention Research into Public Health Action: Implementation and Policy-Relevant Evidence from School-Based Intervention in Brazil”.
The project originates from research developed within the OncoEducação extension project, which was part of the master’s dissertation of Lilian Magalhães Lage, highlighting the potential integration of teaching, research, and extension activities to generate scientific and social impact.
The funding awarded by WCRF, in the amount of £1,300, enabled the faculty member’s participation in the 60th Annual Scientific Meeting of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a specialized agency of the World Health Organization (WHO), held in May 2026 in Lyon, France.
During the event, Prof. Ana Paula Drummond presented two scientific papers developed within the master’s program, contributing to the international dissemination of research conducted within PPGCS and strengthening the Program’s integration into global research networks focused on cancer prevention and health promotion.
Participation in the event, along with the acquisition of international funding, represents an important step forward in the internationalization of the Program, expanding its scientific visibility and strengthening opportunities for academic and research collaboration at an international level.
