Antonio Carlos de Castro Toledo Jr. is an infectious disease specialist who graduated from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 1991, completed his master’s degree in Public Health from UFMG in 1997, and his doctorate in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine from the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro, Uberaba, in 2008. Currently, his career is focused on teaching and research in education. He works at the Prof. Edson Antônio Velano University (UNIFENAS)/Alfenas Foundation for Education and Technology (FETA) in Belo Horizonte, where he is a researcher and adjunct professor. He was the General Coordinator of Medicine at the Belo Horizonte Campus, responsible for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Medicine. He currently coordinates the Comprehensive Health Care Internship. He is a guest reviewer for six national journals: Brazilian Journal of Medical Education, Cadernos de Saúde Pública, Brazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases, Journal of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine, Pan-American Journal of Infectology, and Brazilian Journal of Epidemiology. A former president of the Minas Gerais Society of Infectology, he was president of the 1st Minas Gerais Congress of Infectology and the 42th Brazilian Congress of Infectology. He has published 46 articles in specialized journals and 89 papers presented at scientific events. He has published eight books and three chapters. He has given 25 lectures or classes at scientific events. He has organized 27 scientific events and taught 15 short courses. In the area of management, he was the founder and first Coordinator of the National Viral Hepatitis Program of the Ministry of Health, coordinator of the Fiat Foundation’s Own Medical Services Network, general director of the Contagem Municipal Hospital and coordinator of the state HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis programs of Minas Gerais. He worked for XNUMX years as a medical manager and consultant for the pharmaceutical industry, with an emphasis on Biobrás, Roche, and Genzyme. He completed three short courses abroad (Johns Hopkins University, USA, University of California, San Francisco, USA, and Tampere University of Applied Sciences, Finland) with emphasis on epidemiology, clinical research, and education. He received four awards or honors, including Patron of the XNUMXnd and XNUMXth Classes of the UNIFENAS-BH Medical School. He was a Substitute Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of UFMG, Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Minas Gerais, and consultant in the area of Medical Education. Pós-doutora pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) (2018), pelo Instituto Rene Rachou/Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (IRR/FIOCRUZ-MG) (2014, 2016/17 e 2022-atual) e pela Universidade de Oxford, Inglaterra (2015). Graduada em Farmácia com ênfase em Bioquímica e Análises Clínicas pela UFMG (2007), com Mestrado (2009) e Doutorado (2013) em Imunologia pelo Departamento de Bioquímica e Imunologia da UFMG. Especialista em Educação em Saúde pela pós-graduação da Faculdade Ciências Médicas de Minas Gerais (FCMMG) (2020).Atuou como Coordenadora da disciplina de Imunologia de Mucosa e Professora Visitante da disciplina de Biologia Celular e Molecular no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências da Saúde do IRR/FIOCRUZ-MG. No Programa de Pós-Graduação em Análises Clínicas e Toxicológicas da Faculdade de Farmácia-UFMG, foi professora convidada da disciplina de Genética Humana e coordenadora da disciplina de Imunofenotipagem por Citometria de Fluxo. Atualmente, é Coordenadora e Professora das disciplinas de Imunologia Aplicada à Medicina e Genética Aplicada à Medicina na FCMMG, professora Convidada da disciplina de Imunologia Avançada no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Patologia da UFMG, Pesquisadora Colaboradora no IRR/FIOCRUZ-MG e Líder do Núcleo de Imunologia Translacional de Doenças Raras e Infecciosas (NITRI-FCMMG).É membro pesquisadora do Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa Animal (CEPA) da FCMMG, além de ser membro da Sociedade Internacional de Imunologia de Mucosa, do Grupo Latino-Americano de Imunologia de Mucosa (LAMIG), da Sociedade Brasileira de Imunologia (SBI) onde é colunista do Blog da SBI desde 2015. Tem experiência em educação em saúde e pesquisa em saúde pública, com atuação principalmente nas áreas de Imunologia Básica e Aplicada, Imunoterapia, Diagnóstico, Vacinas, Biomarcadores por Citometria de Fluxo e Genética Médica.

Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in 2003, with a Medical Residency in Orthopedics and Traumatology at Hospital Mater Dei, in Belo Horizonte/MG. He has been a Full Member of the Brazilian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology since 2007 and is a specialist in Foot and Ankle Surgery from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santa Casa de São Paulo. PhD in Applied Sciences for Adult Health from the School of Medicine of UFMG and currently a post-doctoral fellow at the School of Medical Sciences of Minas Gerais. He works as Coordinator of the Orthopedics Service and the Foot and Ankle Surgery Group of the Mater Dei Health Network, in addition to being Coordinator of the Wound and Hyperbaric Center of the same institution. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Surgery of the School of Medical Sciences of Minas Gerais, where he is also a member of the Structuring Teaching Nucleus (NDE) of the Medical Course and coordinates two postgraduate courses.
